SOFT PLASTICS RECYCLING

Central Coast Council has introduced a new program in partnership with iQRenew and CurbCycle to make recycling soft plastics easier and more convenient for households. The program is designed to offer a simple and rewarding way to recycle soft plastics from the comfort and safety of your home, using your Council yellow lid recycling bin. Any resident living in the Central Coast local government area (LGA) with a smartphone can participate in this free program. Here’s how to participate:

  1. Download the Curby App and register for the program.
  2. Within 2-3 weeks, you will receive a CurbyPack that contains CurbyTags and information on how to get started. Additional tags are also available from Aldi at Erina Fair and Lake Haven, or Woolworths at Erina Fair or Westfield Tuggerah.
  3. Start collecting your household soft plastics and place them in any plastic shopping bag*.
  4. Attach a CurbyTag to the bag and scan the code using the Curby App.
  5. Place the tagged bag into your yellow lid recycling bin. Your soft plastics will be separated and diverted from landfill and used to create other products.

Please note that using the CurbyTag is essential for the recycling sorting facility to identify your soft plastics. If the soft plastics are not tagged, they may end up contaminating other recycling.

This program is a great opportunity for residents to take a simple step towards reducing waste and contributing to a more sustainable future.

* Please note that the yellow CurbyBags that were previously supplied are no longer required to participate in the program. However, it is essential to use the CurbyTag when recycling your soft plastics.
